John Jerry Mize

John J. Mize of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

He was born May 25, 1926 in Winter Haven to the late John and Gladys Mize; and came to Lake Wales from Eridu, FL 11 years ago. He was a supervisor for General Foods in Winter Haven for 35 years, attended the First Assembly of God, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He also enjoyed working in his yard.

Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Mize; daughter, Nancy Gibson of Auburndale; son, Mark Mize of Auburndale; step-daughter, Barbara June Carter of Winter Haven; step-sons, John R. Carter (Evis) of West Palm Beach and Hubert Earl Carter (Audrey) of Lake Wales; sister, Carolyn Paul of Winter Haven; brother, Tommy Mize of Lake Wales; and several grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 12:00 PM Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
