John L. Green

John L. Green, 91, of Frostproof, Florida passed Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Winter Haven Hospital.

He was born May 1, 1932, in Blount County, Alabama to the late Levi Clifton and Mahalie (Johnson) Green and he has been a resident of this area since 1990 moving here from Bangor, Alabama. He was a Retired Grounds Keeper and a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Frostproof where he was a Deacon and Elder. John was a life member of the DAV and a member of the Memorial American Legion Post #95 in Frostproof, he also served in the US Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jane Green.

Survivors include his daughters, Gail Barron of Inglis, Florida, Vicki Mannix of Frostproof; sisters, Loretta Duke of Hayden, Alabama, Jeanette Fortner of Hayden, Alabama, Wilma Grace Ashley of Trussville, Alabama; brother, Lewis Green of Cullman, Alabama; grandchildren, Michelle Hutto, Bobbi Houben, Lelton Barron, John Figura; great grandchildren, Jimmy Lee Hutto, Kalani Hutto, Shelby Hutto, Mikala Hutto, Levi Hutto and Devlyn Houben.

Visitation will be held 2:30 pm Tuesday, May 16, 2023, with the funeral service at 3:00 pm at the Southside Baptist Church of Frostproof with Brother Michael J. Arms officiating. Interment will be held 11:30 am Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
