John Timothy Glavey

John Glavey of Lake Wales passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Haines City.

He was born January 30, 1931 in St. James-Long Island, New York; he came here 7 years ago from Calabash, North Carolina. He was a police detective for the Suffolk County Police Department in Long Island, New York, a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a volunteer of St. James Fire Department and a member of the Moose Lodge and the Police Benevolent Association.

John was preceded in death by his brothers, Luke and George Glavey and a sister, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick. He is survived by his wife, Denise Doyle Glavey of Lake Wales.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Father Anthony Bluett officiating. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
