LAKE WALES--John W. “Bill” Gardner, 81, of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland.

Born May 24, 1926 in Clarksdale, MS; he came to Lake Wales from Jackson, MS in 1982. He was an advertising agent for the Lake Wales News and following his retirement he maintained a sign printing business. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing and family times. He loved animals, especially his pet cats & dogs. He was also a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jeanette "Jean" Gardner of Lake Wales; children, Kathy Hobbs of Winter Haven; Richard "Ricky" Gardner of Lake Wales; Mike Martin of Mulberry; Joyce Griffin of Jackson, MS ; twin sisters, Peggy and Jo; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 4:00 PM, Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales. Inurnment will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
