John Leo Cummings

John Leo Cummings passed away on October 21, 2026, at AdventHealth Lake Wales, Florida. He was born on August 31, 1940, in Waverly, New York.

John was a resident of Ellenville, New York, and has also been a seasonal resident of Lake Wales since 2010. In his professional life, he served as vice president of Ellenville National Bank, a position that reflected his dedication and steady presence in his community.

He found enjoyment in many interests that brought richness to his days. If he wasn’t on his computer or HAM radio, he was reading his favorite books. John looked forward to watching Formula One races and hockey games during the season, and for relaxation he would be listening to jazz music. These pursuits were part of the life he built and the many quiet joys he embraced over the years.

Above all, John will be remembered by those who knew and loved him best. He is survived by his wife, Susan Cummings. He also leaves his daughter, Jennifer Gilles (Eric) of Kerhonkson, New York; his sister, Marirta Morley (Jim) of Lowman, New York; his niece, Jodi Sweatland (Jeff); and his grandchild, Jonathon Gilles. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Cummings, and by his mother, Helen Lucy.

John’s memory will remain with his family and friends, and with all who shared in the many interests and conversations that filled his life. He will be deeply missed and warmly remembered.
