John Herbert Cofer

John Herbert Cofer, 93

John Herbert Cofer of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at his residence.

He was born October 31, 1929 in Frostproof to the late Clifford and Bertie Cofer; he has been a lifelong resident of the area. John was a retired corrections officer and served with the United States Army during the Korean war. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Frostproof and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling. He loved spending time with his family and having cookouts.

John was preceded in death by his son, John Darryl Cofer in 1991; brothers, Charles Cofer, Kenneth Cofer, Roy Cofer, and Harry Cofer; and grandson, Clifford Owen “Cliff” Cofer, II. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel Cofer; daughter, Cheryl Hadden of Frostproof; son, Clifford Cofer of Frostproof; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Silver Hill Cemetery.
