Citrus Grower
WAVERLY -- Mr. John Douglas "Doug" Clark Jr. of Waverly died of complications following a stroke Monday (May 1, 2006) at Good Shepherd Hospice. He was 86.
Born in Lakeland on Nov. 8, 1919, he was a lifelong resident. He was a citrus grower. He worked for Waverly Growers for 24 years and was a director for many years. He was also a director of the VA Service Office in Bartow. He attended Emory University and was a member of the Florida Farm Bureau. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Clark; daughter, Terrie L. Poole, Bonifay; sons, John D. Clark III, Sebring, Robert S. Clark, Lake Wales; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Lake Wales Cemetery.
