Joanne Jean Cosce, beloved wife, mother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the Lake Wales Care Center. Born on July 1, 1940, in Cape May, New Jersey, Joanne’s rich and meaningful life spanned nearly eighty-six years, marked by enduring love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Joanne was the treasured daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Settle, whose guidance and example left a lasting imprint on the woman she became. She carried their memory with her throughout her days, honoring their legacy through her many roles as a spouse, parent, and friend.

Joanne’s journey led her through a lifetime filled with significant moments and milestones, always guided by her gentle heart and thoughtful kindness. At the heart of her life was her loving marriage to Leo Cosce, who survives her. Together, Joanne and Leo built a life centered on family, mutual respect, and a deep bond that stood the test of time.

Joanne’s legacy lives on in her devoted family. Along with her husband of 58 years Leo Cosce, she is survived by her children, Patty Cosce of Lake Wales, Leanne Thrift and husband Sean of Lake Wales, John Cosce of Lake Wales, Leo Cosce, III and wife Carlie of Lake Wales, Chris Cosce and wife Amy of Lake Wales; brother, Joe Settle of Lake Wales; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Each carries with them cherished memories of Joanne’s warmth, wise counsel, and boundless affection. She nurtured those closest to her, quietly celebrating their joys and supporting them through life’s challenges. Joanne’s loving spirit inspired all who knew her, reminding them always of the importance of family, compassion, and dignity.

Joanne’s life, though touched by sorrow in the loss of her parents, was defined by her resilience and her ability to bring comfort and joy to others. Her presence will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to know her.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and honor Joanne’s memory during a visitation on June 27, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor can be sent to Compassionate Care Hospice (the form needed for donations can be picked at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home office in Lake Wales).
