Joanna Walko Nelson, 80

Joanna W. Nelson of Columbus, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Lake Wales Medical Center.

She was born September 18, 1936 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late George and Annie Mae Belle (Fleming) Walko. She has been a resident in North Carolina for 50 years coming from Florida. She was a Retail Manager.

She is preceded in death by her husband Wade Duvall Nelson and son Alan Wade Nelson.

She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Alexander and husband Brian of North Carolina, sister Georgianna Collins of Frostproof, FL, brother Harry Walko and wife Doloris of Florida and 6 grandchildren Erin, Julie, Dillon, Brooklyn, Samuel, and Madeline.

Memorial service will be held 6:00PM Friday, March 17, 2017 at God’s Family Assembly in Frostproof.
