Joan Ard Underwood

Joan Ard Underwood, 79, of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

She was born on June 29, 1936 in Ozark, Alabama to the late Thomas Abraham and Agnes Eldessie (Johnson) Ard and she has been a lifelong resident of this area. She was a retired Seamstress at E.B. Malone. Joan loved to sew and cook, she enjoyed gardening, nature and yard sales. She loved her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hershel Underwood and daughter, Kathy Wilson.

Survivors include her son, Lonnie Underwood of Lake Wales; sister, Lisa Brackett of Newton, Alabama; grandchildren, Stephanie, Jimmy, Ashley and Andrew; 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. David Koon officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 Am until service time.
