Joan Beverly (Campbell) Townshend, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at Winter Haven Hospital in Florida, on November 11, 2024. Born on June 26, 1945, in Washington D.C., Joan was a vibrant presence and was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family.
Joan dedicated her life to her family, taking immense joy in just being and sharing in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was a retired bookkeeper and business owner. She was an artist, who also enjoyed sewing, crafting and crocheting. Christmas was a cherished holiday for her, and she always made it special for everyone. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she spent her life nurturing and supporting them with unwavering love. She was the primary caregiver for her husband in his last years on earth.
She is survived by her three children: Welby W. Jones, Jr. of Lake Wales, Florida; Ruth (Jones) Jennings of Owings, Maryland; John W. Jones of Washington D.C. Joan was also a proud grandmother of 7 and a great-grandmother to 16. As the matriarch, her caring, loving, and giving nature made her a cherished and irreplaceable part of her family.
Joan was preceded in joining the Lord by her husband Singleton Lewis Townshend, her mother Ruth (Grimm) Campbell, her sister Betty Lou Campbell and her grandson Timothy (T.J.) Humphrey.
Joan will be remembered for her boundless love and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
