Jo Ann Griffin Wood, 81

Jo Ann Griffin Wood of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.

She was born July 16, 1940 to the late John Major Griffin, Jr and Vera Evelyn; she was a lifelong resident of the area. Jo Ann was a bookkeeper at Washington Mills for over 40 years before retiring, and a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was an active volunteer. She was an avid reader who enjoyed painting and doing crossword puzzles. Jo Ann loved her family; especially her grandchildren.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Summerlin. She is survived by her son, Richard Martin and wife Paula of Lake Wales; son-in-law, Pete Summerlin of Frostproof; grandchildren, Sherri Dixon and husband Larry, Crystal Jackson and husband Michael, Robert Martin and wife Cheryl, and Matthew Martin; and great-grandchildren, Zac Ellis, Brant Ellis, Colby Dixon, Anna Jackson, Luke Jackson, Briana Martin, Alexis Martin, and Mason Martin.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2022 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale (https://www.goodshepherdhospice.com/donations/).
