JIMMIE BROWN, 72

LAKE WALES -- Mr. Jimmie M. Brown of Lake Wales died of cancer Sunday (Aug. 27, 2006) at home. He was 72.

Born in Frostproof on Feb. 9, 1934, he was a lifelong resident of the Lake Wales and Frostproof areas. He was a retired fruit and vegetable inspector for the state of Florida. He was an Air Force veteran, and a member of the American Legion in Lake Wales. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a Baptist.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Judith Brown; daughters, Mary Louise Brown-Ambrose, Jennifer Brantley, Jewell McClure, all of Lake Wales, Spring Dority, Winter Haven; sons, Shannon Brown, Sebring, Scott McClure, Babson Park; brother, Gordon Brown, Frostproof; sister, Margaret Sheffield, Frostproof; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof.
