LAKE WALES--Jerry “Goatman” Houpe, 70, of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007 at The Groves Center.

Born October 21, 1937 in Statesville, NC; he came here from Avon Park in 1978. He was the former owner of Jerry’s Wash-n-Wax, and a member of the Lake Wales Moose Lodge. He restored old cars and was a member of the International Show Cars. He also raised goats.

Survivors include his daughters, Daphne Jean Houpe of Lake Wales; Donna Lee Brantley of Frostproof; son, Billy Houpe of Lake Wales; brothers, Tommy Houpe of Avon Park; Jimmy Houpe of Avon Park; sisters, Theresa Duffy of Lorida; Lynn Appleton of Avon Park; and 4 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
