Jerome F. "Jerry" Wittman

Jerome F. "Jerry" Wittman of Babson Park passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

He was born July 09, 1927 in Curtis, WI to the late Anton & Anna (Geiger) Wittman; he came to Lake Wales in 1962 and moved to Babson Park in 1971. He was the owner of Highlands Floor Covering and the former owner of the IGA Grocery Store, a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Lake Wales V.F.W. and enjoyed gardening, square dancing and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Wittman; daughters, Sandra Chebaro of Landstuhl, Germany, Janice Thorp of Winter Haven, Patricia Matthews of Ponte Vedra Beach and Karen Ethridge of Babson Park; sons, Charles Whittman of Babson Park, Karl Wittman of Babson Park, Duane Wittman of Chester, VA and Michael Wittman of Babson Park; brothers, Gregg Wittman of Front Royal, VA, Linus Wittman of Marshfield, WI, Norman Wittman of Marshfield, WI and Thomas Wittman of Appleton, WI; sister, Flavia Wittman of Marshfield, WI; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 PM with a rosary at 3:30 PM, Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales with Father Anthony Bluett officiating. Interment will be held 2:30 PM, Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
