“Jenny” J. van den Bergh-Timmermans, age 90, passed away peacefully in her home at Water’s Edge of Lake Wales on January 9th with her two daughters by her side.
Jenny was born on June 7, 1924 in Semarang, Indonesia. Her dad, Pieter van den Bergh, was the postmaster in this former Dutch Colony and together with her mother, Petronella Trimbos-van den Bergh they raised the family there until returning with younger sisters “Zus” Nel van den Bergh- De Groot and Loes van den Bergh-Peters to their native Holland in 1935.
Jenny worked at Royal Dutch Shell when she met the love of her life Frans Timmermans. They married in 1954 and in 1955 their daughter Jenneke Timmermans was born, followed in 1957 by daughter Mieke Timmermans-Maloof.
Having also lived in Germany for 5 years, they permanently moved from Holland to the United States in 1977, living in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and finally settling in Lake Wales, Florida.
Jenny spent countless hours making beautiful flower arrangements, as flowers were a passion of hers. She also loved doing needlepoint. Jenny came to love this country and upon her husband’s retirement they decided to stay here for the remainder of their lives. The last few years you would find Jenny sitting on the rocking chairs outside Water’s Edge greeting those coming and going. Jenny’s greatest joy in life were her two beloved grandsons Mark and Kyle,of whom she was extremely proud.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and her husband, and is survived by her daughters Jenneke and Mieke, grandsons Mark Santucci and wife Michele, Kyle Maloof and wife Gabby, as well as sons-in-law David Maloof and Fred Santucci.
