Jeanice A. Lawson

Jeanice A. Lawson of Lake Wales passed away Friday, July 31, 2009 at her residence.

She was born November 17, 1936 in Bowling Green, Florida; she came with her family as a child to the local area. She was a former owner/operator of Jeanice's Gifts and was also the secretary for First Baptist Church, Waldon Shores and First Federal Bank. She was a graduate of Lake Wales Senior High School and an active member of the First Baptist Church.

Jeanice was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Lawson in 2003 and a son, Terry Lawson. Survivors include her daughters, Dr. Kim Lawson of Newnan, Georgia and Laurie A. Hortert (Jim) of Lake Wales, Florida; a son, Steve Lawson (Susan) of Winter Haven, Florida; a sister, Joyce Lunsford of Altamonte Springs, Florida; a brother, Bob Alligood of Jacksonville, Florida; 6 grandchildren, T.J., Tanya, Stephanie, Trey, Zach and Dustin; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Monday August 3, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Markley officiating. Interment will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
