Jean Noland

Jean Noland of Lake Wales passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 in Bartow, Florida. She was 80.

Jean Wilson was born in Miami, Florida to William Harry Wilson and Hattie Ella Robertson on August 28, 1929. She was raised in Jacksonville and Miami and graduated from Miami Senior High in 1947.

She and her husband, Louis David MacNaughton, raised four children: Albert Eugene, Molly, Ann and June. Jean later remarried, to Charles E. (Buddy) Noland, a junior high friend she later re-met at their 40th High School reunion.

Jean lived in Miami, Pensacola, Gaithersburg (Maryland), Frostproof and Lake Wales Florida. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Frostproof.

She was predeceased by her husband Charles Noland in 2001; her youngest daughter June MacNaughton Harding in 2002; the father of her children, Louis MacNaughton in 2004; her brother, William (Bill) Harry Wilson in 2005; and her long time companion, Roger T. Hollowell in 2010.

Jean is survived by her children: son Gene and his wife Teri MacNaughton of Pensacola, Florida; daughter Molly MacNaughton and her husband Robert H. Scott of New London, New Hampshire; daughter Ann MacNaughton Bennett and her husband David A. Bennett of Frederick, Maryland; the husband of her daughter June, J. Thomas Harding of Silver Spring, Maryland.

She is survived by her five granddaughters: Jennifer Ann MacNaughton of Brandon, Florida; Virginia Ann Carroll of Charlottesville, Virginia; Allison June Harding of Savannah, Georgia; Lois Elizabeth Hogue and her husband James P. Hogue of Frederick, Maryland; and Julia Paige Harding of Silver Spring, Maryland.

Other survivors include two sisters-in-law: Molly Schuh (Robert) of St. Augustine, Florida; and Janet MacNaughton of Palm City, Florida; a step-brother, Earle Lerette of Okeechobee, Florida; four step-children: Kathryn (Jake) Johnson, Ken (Alice) Noland, Richard (Carol) Noland and John Noland; a cousin Edna Katherine Sikes of Jacksonville, Florida; and a half-aunt, Emma Rita Tibbitts of Sarasota, Florida; many nephews and one niece.

Affectionately known as Granny, she was a loyal, loving and attentive Grandmother to her wonderful granddaughters.

The visitation will be held from 3PM until the funeral service at 4PM Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
