Jay Franklin Reed, 87
Jay Franklin Reed of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Auburndale.
He was born July 15, 1935 in Norton, Virginia to the late Garland and Maggie Reed; he moved to Lake Wales from Eagle Lake in 2004. Jay was a retired truck driver for Roadway Express. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean war.
Jay was proceeded in death by his son, James Alton Reed. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rita Reed, daughter, Sharon Cook and husband Freddy of Palmetto; sons, Stephen Reed and wife Beth of Lake Wales, and Kenneth Reed and wife Tina of Bartow; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Namesake Apostolic Church in Lake Wales with Pastor Stephen Reed officiating.
