Janis Powell Hollmer of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

She was born October 7, 1957 in Lake Wales and graduated from the Lake Wales Senior High School, class of 1975. She was a lifelong resident of the area, except during her military career in the U.S. Navy.

Janis was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Sullivan and father, Calvin Jerry Powell. Survivors include her son, Ben Grigsby of Colorado and Josh Cole of Lake Wales; mother, Merle Peterson of Lake Wales; sister, Kay Wood (Sonny) of Lake Wales; brothers, Bruce Powell of Lake Wales and Robbie Powell of Lake Wales; and one granddaughter, Kaylean.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Stephen Bolden officiating and military honors. Interment will be at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
