Janet M. Carter of Lake Wales passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at her residence.
She was born December 8, 1929 in Pratts Hollow, NY to the late Burroughs and Cecil (Cummings) Marshall; and came to Lake Wales from Englewood, NJ in 1999. She was a homemaker, a member of the A.A.U.W., and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she volunteered at the Good Shepherd Thrift Shop. She was an avid reader and great cook. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Syracuse University and her claim to fame is that Dick Clark was in her graduating class.
Janet was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Ann Bennett. Survivors include her husband, Ackley G. Carter; son, Steven Carter and his wife, Lisa of Lake Wales; and grandson, Spencer.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake Wales. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd Memorial Fund (221 South 4th Street, Lake Wales, FL 33853) or Good Shepherd Hospice (105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823).
