Jane Cameron White, 82, wife of John R. White, Jr., daughter of Bee Kelley Cameron Aikin and Hugh McLauren Cameron; born December 28, 1928 and reared in Lake Wales, FL. She was the granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin P. Kelley, early Florida settlers.
Mrs. White attended Lake Wales schools grades 1-12. Upon graduation she continued her education at Florida Southern College in Lakeland where she received a degree in Speech Arts and Elementary Education. She was President of Delta Zeta Sorority and the Panhellenic Association. She was the sweetheart of Theta Chi Fraternity, Miss Southern 1950, and the recipient of an award for Meritorious Service from FSC by President Ludd M. Spivey and the Board of Trustees. She was a lifelong member of the Dinx.
Mrs. White was active in community affairs and the Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her college sweetheart and husband of 60 years; daughters, Victoria Kelley White and Kimberly White Boyer; son, John R. White III; granddaughters, Kimberly Hellmuth (Daniel) and Kelley Boyer; one great-grandson, John Tyrie Willis Hellmuth; cousins, Alick & Donna Gerard, Phillip & Priscilla Gerard, and their families; the Earl V. Norton family.
Memorial services will be held at Grace Episcopal Chapel in Orange Park (245 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073) on June 30, 2011 at 10:00 AM, with reception following at the Club Continental. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Wales Literacy Council (140 E. Park Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853) or the St. Augustine Humane Society (P.O. Box 133, St. Augustine, FL 32085).
