Lucy Jane Downey passed away on March 2, 2026 at Lake Wales Hospital with her family at her side.
Jane was born in Winchester,Mass. on May 12,1932 to parents Lucy Squires and John Szabo. The family moved to Bayside,NY, when Jane was 16 and met Lawrence "Skip" Downey. They married in Junction City, Kansas, on August 16,1952 where Skip was stationed at Fort Riley serving in the Army. Jane and Skip relocated to Lake Wales from Nokomis, FL in 2017.
Jane was a homemaker and mother to Deborah Partlow, Lawrence "Bud" Ill [Barbara], Michael [Geralyn], Beth Kemp [Howard], David, and Joanne. David predeceased them in 2001. Jane had 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Jane enjoyed crafting, reading, and traveling.
Jane will be interred in the Memorial Garden at Epiphany Cathedral, Venice, Florida.
