James Thomas Griffin

J.T. Griffin of Winter Haven passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 at his residence.

He was born August 14, 1942 in Frostproof to the late Tommy & Helen (Winegard) Griffin; he moved from Avon Park to Winter Haven one year ago. He was a retired truck driver for Minute Maid Food Division and of the Baptist faith.

J.T. was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul and a sister, Joyce. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Griffin; daughter, Tina Griffin (Brian) of Lake Wales; sons, Timothy Griffin of Lake Wales, Andy Griffin (Dionna) of Lake Wales, Joe Griffin of Lake Wales and Paul Murray (Mary) of Lake Wales; sister, Martina Griffin of Sarasota; brother, Tommy Griffin (Karen) of Avon Park; sister-in-law, Betty Gragus (Ted) of Winter Haven; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Lake Wales Cemetery with Rev. Paul Dixon officiating. Visitation will be held at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales from 10:00-10:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Wahneta (P.O. Box 5061, Winter Haven, FL 33880-0061).
