James Vance Schwab

James Vance “Jimmy” Schwab died July 14 th at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, Florida, attended by his family. Jimmy was born to Orello Vance “Jim” and Ivy Pearl Schwab on October 2, 1945, in Shafton, Pennsylvania.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Dickson of Phoenix, AZ. He is survived by his other sisters, Joan Schwab Hanley of Winter Haven, and Dene Morris (Ben) of Smyrna, Georgia; children, Sandy Tregear of Frostproof, Aron Vance Schwab of Frostproof, and James Vance Schwab, Jr. of Frostproof; his better half, Doreena Snowden of Lake Wales; nieces, Susan Polacheck (John), and Sarah Beth Anderson (Carl) of Atlanta, GA; nephews, Eric Dickson (Marion) of Houston, TX, and Ryan Dickson (Laura) of Peoria, AZ; granddaughter, Ellise Schwab; local cousin, Robert McCollough; and many other cousins, and great nieces and nephews.

When Jimmy was six months old, his family moved to Frostproof, Florida, where he graduated from Frostproof High School in 1963. He owned Frostproof Supertest, Jimmys Restaurant, and worked at other jobs in the area. Jimmy was a great storyteller, he loved fishing and boating. Most recently he helped Doreena for several years at Bill’s Cafe in Lake Wales, Florida.

Jimmy’s family is planning a Celebration of Life for family and friends on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at the First Baptist Church of Frostproof.
