James McCutchen of Lakeland passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Hospice facility in Auburndale.
He was born January 21, 1929 in Holmstead, IL to the late Allen & Christine (Crabtree) McCutchen; and has been a resident of the Lakeland area since moving here from St. Louis in 1995. He worked as an electrician for the American Can Company for 28 years and retired in 1991, and he is also a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Nina, and his brother, Ervine Don Stephens. He is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Robert Allen McCutchen of Everett, WA, James Hoston McCutchen of Cottage Grove, MN, Ronald Wayne McCutchen of Park Hills, MO; brother, Richard Stephens of Miami, FL; sisters, Louise Forsythe of Bellvadiere, IL, Martha Sheppard of Aurora, IL; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales, with interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice (105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823).
