FORT MEADE--James Cecil Levins, Sr., 73, of Fort Meade died of respiratory failure Sunday, March 18, 2007 at the Winter Haven Hospital.

Born September 29, 1933 in Careyville, FL; he came to the area in 1953 from Washington County, FL. He was retired from Citrus World and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, family times and raising his chickens and dogs. He also played the fiddle and enjoyed blue grass music.

Mr. Levins was preceded in death by his wife, Blondell Levins in 1993. Survivors include his son, James Cecil Levins, Jr. of Fort Meade; grandchildren, Erica, James III, Rebecca and Terri; great-grandchildren, Macy, Derick and Austin.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the funeral home with Rev. David Durham officiating. Interment will be held at Gandy Cemetery in Bartow.
