James Earl “Jimmy” Jones, 85

James Earl “Jimmy” Jones of Lake Wales passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, at his residence.

He was born January 24, 1938, in Walton County to the late Frank and Bertha Jones; he moved to Lake Wales from North Florida in 1958. Jimmy was a self-employed truck driver and was a member of the NRA Golden Eagles. He enjoyed going to his cabin in the Ocala National Forest, tracking deer, fishing, and going on motorcycle rides.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret S. Jones; son, Richard Jones and wife Lorrie of Lake Wales; daughter, Cynthia Stripling and husband Dean of Lake Wales; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 4:00 PM at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Rickman and Chaplain H.L. McConnell (Good Shepherd Hospice) will be officiating. The family will be available to greet friends before the service at 3:30 p.m. and after the service until 6:00 p.m. For those who wish, donations may be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice (450 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, Florida 33823).
