James Johnson

August 22, 1954 — November 19, 2016

Whether you knew him from his radio presence, his pastoral care, his loyal friendship, or his professional expertise, you would have been touched by Dewayne’s tender-heartedness. James Dewayne Johnson passed away Saturday November 19 th in the town where he was born 62 years ago, Lake Wales, Florida.  Still, somehow, we are finding the power to rejoice in the knowledge that he is running down the streets of gold. His achievements are many and worthy of remembering: He’s Alive Radio, Inc., Grantsville, MD.; World Lighthouse Worship Center, Grantsville, MD.; and the Lake Wales Computer Center, Lake Wales, FL. His ministry travels took him to many states, Canada, Mozambique, Ghana, South Africa, Namibia, Israel, Egypt, Greece, Kenya, and Peru (and we’re sure we’re missing a few). As the owner of Lake Wales Computer Center, Dewayne used his gifts in business and technology to serve communities in Central Florida with his heart and soul.  On the morning of November 10, Dewayne was walking to his vehicle on the way to the office when a cardiac event took place. Like the fighter he was, he battled against complications for nine days until he heard the call to come home.  He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Melissa and Bart Mazer, Jessy and Rob Lee – His granddaughter and spouse, Madeline and Zach Brenneman – His grandbabies Mila, Avynn, and Andy Lee – and soon to be great granddaughter London Brenneman. He was the loving brother to June Justice, Gene Johnson and his wife Cathy, Diane Smaltz and her husband Joe.  He leaves behind his beloved sweetheart, Lajuaia Keen - and his faithful cat, Samson. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 5:00 PM until service time at 6:00 PM at Marion Nelson Funeral Home.
