James Joel “Jim” Thompson, 88

James Joel “Jim” Thompson of Lake Wales, Florida and Cedar Grove, Tennessee passed away Friday, December 16, 2022 at his Lake Wales residence.

He was born November 15, 1934 in Carroll County, Tennessee to the late Freeman and Mable Thompson. Jim was a retired Maintenance Worker for Holiday Inn. Corporation. He was also a retired Staff Sergeant for the United States Army and served in Vietnam. Jim was a member of the Juno Masonic Lodge #443 in Lexington, Tennessee for 54 years and he loved to hunt and fish.

Jim was proceeded in death by his sons, Jimmy Allen, Bill, and Gary Joe. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Betsy L. Thompson; daughters, Gail Joy Carr, Linda Ann Ress, Tammy Griffin, and Sherry Bennett; son, Jerry Lee Bennett; 12 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; and 5 great-greatgrandchildren.
