James "Jim" Kaufman

James "Jim" Kaufman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 29, 2026. Born on June 21, 1938, in Anderson, Indiana, Jim's generous spirit and unwavering warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

From his earliest days, Jim embodied the values of openheartedness and integrity. He never met a stranger—wherever life led him, he welcomed people. His family remembers him as a loving, giving person.

Proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Jim cherished his military experience and carried it as a badge of honor throughout his life. He remained very proud of his service, often sharing stories of camaraderie and sacrifice with his loved ones.

After returning home, Jim channeled his industrious nature into a remarkable career as Vice President of Tekonsha Corporation. His dedication to community extended well beyond his professional achievements. His involvement enriched a tapestry of service organizations including the American Legion, Eagles, Masonic Lodge, and Shriners. His devotion to these clubs reflected his deep commitment to fellowship and giving back—a theme at the heart of his life. Outside of his work and service, Jim found joy in the simple pleasures. He was passionate about golf and was a wonderful carpenter.

What radiates most in the legacy Jim leaves behind is the boundless affection he poured into his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pat Kaufman, whose companionship and support stood as the foundation of their enduring partnership. His children, Shawn Kaufman (with wife Treva), Lorie Neeley (with husband Joe), and Steve Kaufman, continue to cherish the lessons and love Jim shared so freely. His memory lives on in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his values and stories. Jim is also survived by his sister, Norma Moser, and brother, Bill Kaufman.

Jim's journey was marked by both profound joys and deep sorrows. He is reunited in peace with his parents, Leland and Geneva Kaufman, his beloved daughter Pamela Kaufman, and siblings who have predeceased him—three sisters and two brothers—whose memories remain cherished by those who loved them.
