James B. Harmon

March 13, 1943 — February 12, 2011

James B. Harmon of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his residence.

He was born March 13, 1943 to the late James B. and Bernadette (Rodgers) Harmon. He has been a resident of the Lake Wales area for 9 years coming here from Ft. Lauderdale. He was a retired Branch Manager for Citizens Bank & Trust for 9 years, he also worked with Sun Trust Bank of Ft. Lauderdale for 31 years. He enjoyed working and community affairs, a member of the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Florida Band Masters in Ft. Lauderdale and many other organizations. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof where he served as a deacon, loved helping people, loved spending time with his children, was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force, and was a big prankster.

James was preceded in death by his grandson, Brad Harmon in 2004. Survivors include his wife, Paula J. Harmon of 41 1/2 years; son, Daniel B. Harmon of Lake Wales; sister, Patricia Watts of Winter Haven; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Harmon; two step-grandchildren, Eric Ricks and Brittany Ricks; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Frostproof with Dr. Buzzy Elder officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Frostproof from 6:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
