James Walter Gillum, 76

James Walter Gillum of Lake Wales passed away Monday, October 16, 2023 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Auburndale.

He was born December 19, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Walter and Isabelle Gillum; he moved to Lake Wales from Chicago, Illinois five years ago. James was a retired truck driver for the City of Chicago Water Department.

James was prededed in death by brothers, Grant Gillum and Norwood Gillum; and sister, Doris Lapointe. is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Gillum; daughters, Kimberly Bass (Reginald) of Riverdale, Illinois, and Kelly Hemphill (Kristyn McClearn) of Chicago, Illinois; and grandchildren, James Deacon, Linda Little (Tai), Shawn Hemphill, and Jillian Hemphill.

Services will be held by Matz Mt. Prospect Funeral Chapel in Mount Prospect, Illinois (410 East Rand Road, Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056).
