AVON PARK--James Robert “Bob” Day, 79, of Avon Park, FL died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, FL after a lengthy illness.

Born August 31, 1927 in Geneva County AL; he served in the United States Army Air Corp. in World War II and in Occupational Japan. He moved to Frostproof, FL in 1949. He was employed with Ben Hill Griffin Inc and Proctor & Gamble for 30 years, retiring in 1989 as a master mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Day and Ellie Marlowe Day, his wife of 49 years, Sara Grice Day, his daughter, Peggy Day Booth, sister, Essie Mae Hutto, and brothers, Paul Day and Lex “Sam” Day, and his grandson, Travis Todd. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Day Todd of Avon Park; two sons, Russell “Ray” Barber of Lake Wales and Thomas “Tom” Barber of Avon Park; brothers, Tom Day of Frostproof and Rex Day of Auburndale; sisters, Thelma Deal and Nell Nutt both of Frostproof; beloved friend, Betty Willis; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Rev. Rex Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery.
