Jackie D. “Jack” Hatten, Sr., 73

Jackie D. “Jack” Hatten, Sr. of Lake Wales passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at his residence.

He was born July 27, 1947 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Effie Hatten. He moved to Lake Wales from West Virginia 30 years ago. Jack was a retired truck driver and attended the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the United States Marines. Following his initial career as a truck driver, Jack became interested in coaching and he went back to college and earned his bachelor’s degree in social work. He loved his church, fishing, visiting the State Parks, and four wheeling.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Hatten. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Scott of Lake Wales; sons, Jackie Hatten, Jr and wife Stephanie of Riverview, and John Hatten of Lakeland; brother, Raymond Hatten and wife Ruth of Winona, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Deacon Sam Knight officiating. Interment will follow the service at Silver Hill Cemetery.
