LAKE WALES--Jack C. Bumgardner, 82, of Lake Wales died of heart failure Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Winter Haven Hospital.
Born September 11, 1924 in Versailles, Kentucky; he came to Florida in 1955. He was of the Methodist faith and a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army in the South Pacific. Jack played right tackle for the Woodford County High School the year they won the State of Kentucky Championship. He retired as a construction supervisor in 1981 and spent his days fishing. He was a member of the Clearwater Masonic Lodge and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Bumgardner of Lake Wales; daughters, Ann Cone of Lake Wales; Marian Shelton of Land O’Lakes; son, Garry Bumgardner of Nashville, TN; brother, Richard Bumgardner of Versailles, KY; sister, Mary Evans of Charleston, SC; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 4:00 PM Monday, May 14, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. Those who wish may make memorial donations to any charity of choice.
