Ira "Andy" Anthony Anderson passed away on December 12, 2025, at AdventHealth Lake Wales. Born on September 17, 1953, on Whidbey Island, Washington, Andy lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family and community.
Andy was a proud veteran, having served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he committed himself to the betterment of veterans and their families as the Retired President of a Veterans Organization. His passion for helping others was evident throughout his life, as he devoted himself not only to serving veterans but also to uplifting the whole community.
An accomplished individual, Andy earned a Doctorate Degree, signifying his commitment to education and continuous learning. He was a man of many interests and hobbies. Andy found joy in woodworking, fishing, and boat racing. However, his greatest love was for the veterans, their families, and the community he served with such fervor. He loved to feed people, a testament to his generous spirit.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Patricia Anderson. His legacy continues on through his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Linda Lee Hayes; his daughter, Allison Snyder of Lake Wales; and his son, Adam Anderson of Winter Haven. He leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Korina, Alex, Ricky, Kristin, Dalton, Summer, and Colbee; along with ten great-grandchildren.
A Christmas Dinner with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., December 20, 2025, at Impact Church in Lake Wales, where friends and family will gather to honor and celebrate his life. A wake will take place at 5:30 p.m., December 29, 2025, at the Lake Wales Arts Center, allowing many to share their memories and tributes to a man who touched countless lives. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his honor can be made to the All Veterans Center (https://allveteranscenterinc.com/donations) or the Lake Wales American Legion, Post 71, (PO Box 668, Lake Wales, Florida 33859).
