Indiana (Barnes) Avirett of Lake Wales born to Enoch & Indiana (Jones) Barnes November 14, 1916 in Alma, GA went to her Lord Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Dove Health Care Center in Lake Wales.
She came to Lake Wales 60 years ago from Blakely, GA. She was a homemaker and retired from Donald Duck/Citrus World after 38 years. She became a homecare nurse until she was unable to work.
Mrs. Avirett was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Avirett Sr and son, Robert Avirett Jr., two brothers, Enoch & Orin Barnes, three sisters, Sara Collier, Migonette Avirett and Doris Sholar. Survivors include her nine children, three daughters, Jane Thornton of Lake Wales, Sara Pearce of Lake Wales and Mary Heiler of Sarasota, six sons, Tom Avirett of Lake Wales, Ronnie Avirett of Sarasota, Paul Avirett of Sarasota, James Avirett of Pace, Frank Avirett of Frostproof and Patrick Avirett of Texas, 27 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren and 1great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 11, 2009 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Lake Wales. Interment will be held at the Freeman-Nicholson Cemetery in Gadsden County, FL.
