LAKE WALES--Howard Lee Tharp, 68, of Lake Wales, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport of heart failure.

Born January 11, 1939 in Bartow; he came to Lake Wales in 1973 from Bartow. He was a retired supervisor for Citrus World, a member of the Golfview Baptist Church and loved the Florida Gators.

Mr. Tharp was preceded in death by his parents, Presley & Iona Irene Tharp, and brother, Heston Tharp. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Glynes Tharp of Lake Wales; daughter, Donna Wise of Lake Wales; sons, Kenneth & Martha Rainey of Lake Wales; Jeffrey Tharp of Lakeland; Dennis & Carol Tharp of Woodenville, WA; Terry & Stacie Tharp of Madison, NC; brother, Bernard Tharp of Athens, GA; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the funeral home.
