Howard “H.L.” Moncrief of Frostproof passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.

He was born August 10, 1943 in Lanier County, GA to Howard and Mazy Ethell Moncrief; he was a lifelong resident. He was a retired welder for Peterson Industries and of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Laverne Moncrief; mother, Ethell Vickery Moncrief of Lakeland, GA; sisters, Nell Alexander of Indian Lake Estates and Rose Lee Dowdy of Spring Valley, AL; and brother, John Scott Moncrief of Lakeland, GA.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with visitation at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823.
