Howard A. Leishman

Howard A. Leishman of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 at The Groves Center.

He was born December 8, 1923 in Bronx, New York City, New York to the late Howard A. & Josephine R. (Kennedy) Leishman; he came here in 1997 from Millsboro, DE. He was a retired police officer from the City of Wilmington, DE, attended the Lake Wales Alliance Church and the Tower Lakes Chapel and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 7422 in Millsboro, DE. He enjoyed making stained glass art, solving crossword puzzles and watching old western movies.

Howard was preceded in death by his first wife, Selma Marie Leishman. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Leishman; daughters, Marianne Havens of Wilmington, DE, Suzanne Hoedl of Princeton, NJ and Karen Lynn Quisenberry of Troutville, VA; five grandchildren; step-daughter, Beverly Bader of Richmond, VA; and a step-son, Tom Hosack of Lake Wales.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Gerald Williams and Rev. Jim O'Hara officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the veteran cemetery in Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tower Lakes Chapel, c/o Rev. Gerald Williams, 2146 Heron Drive, Lake Wales, Florida 33859.
