Homer Lee Wilson

Homer Lee Wilson, 83, of Frostproof, FL passed away on December 9, 2023 at Lakeland Regional Hospital. Homer was born March 21, 1940 in Macon, GA to Marie Mills Wilson and Lee O. Wilson. Homer grew up in Stillmore, GA then moved to Frostproof FL in 1957 where he lived until his death. Homer married Betty in 1961 and loved her faithfully for 62 years. Homer and Betty had 2 children, Jeannie Marie Wilson and Debra Wilson Norris. Homer spent most of his life working in construction, where he owned and operated Wilson Construction until he retired. Homer loved to bass fish, hunt deer and turkeys in both Florida and Georgia with his brother Bobby, son-in-law Ricky and grandchildren Trey and Kaylee. Homer also enjoyed feeding the lake birds from his dock, beekeeping, and gardening. Homer’s favorite past-time was spending time with his grandchildren (Trey Norris and Kaylee Norris Poppell) and his great grandchildren (Cash Norris, Beau Norris, and Charlee Kay Poppell). Homer traveled across the southeast supporting his grandchildren in their sporting activities and enjoyed taking his great grandchildren on golf cart rides when they visited. Homer also loved his dog, Bo.

Homer was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Mills Wilson; father, Lee O. Wilson; infant daughter, Jeannie Marie Wilson; and brother, Bobby Lee Wilson.

Homer is survived by his wife, Betty Wilson; brother, Jerry Griffen (Sandra); daughter, Debbie Wilson Norris; son-in-law, Ricky Norris; grandchildren Trey Norris (Cassie), Kaylee Norris Poppell (Seth), and Christin Norris; and great-grandchildren Cash Norris, Beau Norris, Charlee Kay Poppell, Landon Norris and Brody Norris.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Silver Hill Cemetery with Rev. Wrynn Collins officiating.
