LAKE WALES--Herbert Warren Meyer, Jr., 73, of Lake Wales passed away Friday, December 14, 2007 at Winter Haven Hospital.
Born August 1, 1934 in Frostproof; he was a graduate of Frostproof High School. He was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam, serving in the U.S. Navy. He completed his Naval career in Longwood, FL training new recruits. Following his retirement from the Navy he worked as a deputy for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department. He moved back to the Frostproof - Lake Wales area in 1985. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Hamilton and enjoyed fishing.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Warren & Viola Meyer, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jeanette J. Meyer of Lake Wales; son, H. Warren Meyer III of Chandler, AZ; Kenneth L. Meyer of Longwood, FL; brother, Roger M. Meyer of Orlando; sisters, Nadine Carnley of Lake Wales; Helen Montcalm of Frostproof; Gail Hickman of Bartow; Mary Ann Routt of South Carolina; and 5 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until service time at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Lake Hamilton, Lake Hamilton. Graveside services with military honors will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Silver Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lake Hamilton, Post Office Box 286, Lake Hamilton, Florida 33851.
