Herbert F. "Herb" Landis

June 12, 1934 — November 24, 2012

Herbert F. “Herb” Landis of Toledo, OH passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at his winter residence in Frostproof.

He was born June 12, 1934 in Dayton, OH to the late John and Glenna (Jordan) Landis; and has been wintering in Frostproof for 17 years. Herbert was a graduate of Heidleburg College and United Theological Seminary with a Master’s in Divinity. His pastorates include United Methodist Churches in Republic and Tiffin, OH, Rising Sun and Kansas, OH and McClure, OH, a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Toledo, and attended the Sun Ray United Methodist Church in Frostproof. He served in the U.S. Army and was a tool and dye maker for American Metal Craft in Waterville, OH. Herbert enjoyed woodworking, model trains, traveling and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Karen S. Landis; daughters, Ruth Nemire of Ft. Lauderdale, Kim Burke (Jeff James) of Toldeo, OH and Beth Weisner (Kevin) of Napoleon, OH; sons, Jahn Landis (Shawna) of Temperance, MI, Scott Burke (Angela) of Boca Raton, FL and Russ Burke (Terri) of Toledo, OH; four sisters, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Sun Ray United Methodist Church in Frostproof. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Sun Ray United Methodist Church or the Good Shepherd Hospice.
