Henry "Hank" Smith, Sr.

Henry "Hank" Smith, Sr. Henry “Hank” Smith, Sr., passed away peacefully Sunday, April 9, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born February 19, 1949, in Frostproof, Florida to the late Clifton Joseph and Tommie Lorena (Gay) Smith and has been a lifelong resident of this area. Henry was a Code Enforcement Investigator and served in the US Army - 537th Engineer Company, Fort Belvoir, VA. Henry married the love of his life, and high school sweetheart, on July 6, 1969. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from St. Leo University and held a Civil Engineering degree from South Florida Community College. He worked many years in the Citrus Industry before becoming a Code Enforcement Investigator for the City of Frostproof and Polk County. Henry was a member of the Frostproof Masonic Lodge. He served as the President of Frostproof Little League and was a Frostproof Councilman. Henry was a hardworking man; he never hesitated with the chance to spend time with family and friends; he enjoyed organizing his penny collection, working in his shop, and he always looked forward to family vacations in Vero Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold Smith; sister-n-law, Deidra Smith and brother-in-law, Doug Eason. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Beth Smith; son, Hank Smith (Vickie) of Frostproof; daughter, Christy Smith-Warren (Tiffani) of Auburndale; sisters, Gwen Greenway (Sam) of Frostproof, Nadine Eason of Avon Park; five grandchildren, Bryce (Jazlyn), Jacob (Sierra), Tiffany, Holly and Kaci; seven great-grandchildren, Sophia, Landon, Logan, Ayden, Cason, Addilyn and Kennedi. A celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Frostproof with Pastor Don Yates officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service time. Interment will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery.
