Henry Boyd Grider

Henry Boyd Grider of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Brandywyne Health Care Center in Winter Haven.

He was born January 19, 1927 in Frostproof to the late Ernest Grider & Lula Respress Dozier; and moved from Frostproof to Lake Wales in 1967. He was a retired from Mountain Lake Corp., of the Baptist faith and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was an avid fisherman for many years; loved the outdoors and the City of Frostproof.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Ann Grider; daughters, Ruth Thomas of Lake Wales and Brenda Joyce Edwards of Sebring; son, Ronald Grider of Starke; brother, Pete Grider of Battle Creek, MI; 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the funeral service at 3:00 PM, Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Rev. Gene McKay officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Frostproof FFA Alumni Association.
