Helen L. Lunsford

Helen L. Lunsford of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. She was born January 8, 1929 in Plant City, Florida to the late Joshua A. and Hattie Sloan Hawkins; and has been a lifelong resident of the area. She was a teacher for the Polk County School Board, the owner of Oasis Marina and a member of the First Baptist Church. Helen enjoyed Sunday School and fishing. Her daughter, Diane was her life. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, J W. Lunsford; and survived by her daughter, Diane Lunsford of Lake Wales; and sister, Carolyn Craver. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church or Shady Hammock Baptist Church.
