Harvey E. “Gene” Schwidde, 84
Harvey E. “Gene” Schwidde of Frostproof passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at his residence.
He was born January 12, 1937 in Cuba, Missouri to the late Charles and Gladys Schwidde; he moved to Frostproof from Wytheville, Virginia in 2004. Gene was a plant manager for ALCO Controls for 45 years and retired as a plant superintendent from Emerson Electric. He was a strong Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Frostproof where he taught a Sunday school class. Gene was an avid fisherman and golfer and loved the St. Lois Cardinals. He signed a major league contract with the Kansas City A's baseball team right out of high school.
Gene was preceded in death by his grandson, Landon Allen Eugene. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Schwidde; daughters, Debra Anne Simon of Ballwin, Missouri, and Khris (Randy) Morris of Willis, Virginia; son, Stephen D. Schwidde of Frostproof; brother, Charles Schwidde (Gloria) of Saint Petersburg; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 14, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Frostproof with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Frostproof (P.O. Box 327, Frostproof, Florida 33843) or Gideons International ( www.gideons.org ).
