LAKE WALES -- Mr. Harvel A. Lunsford of Lake Wales died of lung failure Monday (June 5, 2006) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 74.

Born in Lake Wales on June 24, 1931, he was a lifelong resident. He was a carpet cleaner for the Polk County School Board. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a retired Florida National Guardsman, serving for 24 years. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Mr. Lunsford is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma J. Lunsford; daughters, Constance Lorena Sanders and Sandra Lea Coatney, both of Lake Wales, Brenda Kay Thompson, Indiana; son, Harvel A. Lunsford Jr., Lake Wales; sister, Elizabeth McKinney, Lake Wales; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Lake Wales Cemetery.
