Harold E. Hayden

Harold E. Hayden of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 in Montverde, FL.

He was born June 12, 1921 in Hammond, IN to the late Forrest & Esther Hayden; he came to Lake Wales as a child, later joined the army and returned in 1961. He was a retired relay technician for Progress Energy, was a member of the Refuge Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed reading.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Edna M. Hayden; two sons, Dennis Wright and Terry Hayden; and one daughter, Wanda Hayden. Survivors include his daughters, Donna Warren (Henry) of Monticello, Jean Raulerson (Endel) of Montverde, Esther Holladay (Scott) of Orofino, ID and Gwen Watford of Lake Wales; 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 1:00pm Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with family receiving friends at 12:00 until service time. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
